ECREEE closed this Friday, May 18, 2023, the series of regional capacity building workshops in the ECOWAS region on the quality assurance of off-grid solar photovoltaic products by the one organized in Lomé, Togo from May 16 to 18, 2023.
This workshop was preceded by two first regional workshops which took place respectively from May 3 to 6 in Niamey, Niger, and from May 9 to 11 in Accra, Ghana.
The main objective of these capacity building activities is to sustainably support a harmonized quality assurance framework for off-grid solar products of less than or equal to 350 Watts and their test methods for the ECOWAS region and other countries. countries concerned by the Regional Project for Access to Off-Grid Electricity (ROGEAP), namely Cameroon, Mauritania, the Central African Republic and Chad, following the adoption of the Standalone Solar Systems Standards by ECOWAS Industry Ministers on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Banjul, The Gambia
These activities were implemented by experts from the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), VeraSol and the ROGEAP project unit for the benefit of agents from Rural Electrification Agencies, ministries of energy and standardization bodies of ECOWAS Member States and the four other countries involved.
The Togo workshop brought together nearly 17 experts from Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Senegal and Togo.
