On 27-28 November 2012, the General Authority for Investment Promotion and Privatization Affairs and the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAOL), with the participation of a number of specialists and those interested in this field, organized the first national forum on investment in renewable energies. The Forum presented renewable energy future plan in Libya, which aims to increase renewable energy contribution in the electricity generation mix to 10% by 2025. At the end, the forum issued a number of recommendations which stressed the importance of legislation and regulations for investment in the field and taking necessary implementation actions. Further it stressed on building national capacities, as well as the allocation of part of the fuel support fund to encourage the industry and open the way for investors in accordance with the law expected to be released during the next year.
