RCREEE’s executive director, Eng. Ahmed Badr received an award from the Undersecretary of Ministry of Energy of the United Arab Emirates, H.E Dr. Matar Hamed Al Neyadi. The award was granted to RCREEE in recognition of its active role and participation in the 8th Exhibition of Electrical Industries in the Arab World.
As a speaker in the “Renewable energy and energy mix in the Arab World” session, Eng. Badr presented the current situation, plans and strategies, challenges and solutions of Renewable Energy in the Arab world. In his word He highlighted the importance of introducing a new set of processes for de-risking all barriers for the launch deployment of renewable energy in the Arab World. The session attracted a high number of attendees who discussed various topics including renewable energy investments, current situation, potential barriers, associated risks facing foreign direct investors and relevant mitigation measured to de-risk.
During the session, The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) shared its views on the current renewable energy activities in several regions verses the Arab region. IRENA also discussed the significant initiatives it’s supporting for further deployments of renewable energy in the Arab world such as the joint initiative of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD)
In addition, The League of Arab States showed their policy integrated role regarding the development of national renewable energy action plan (NREAP) & National Energy Efficiency Action Plans (NEEAP) at the Arab world scale.
About the event:
The Exhibition of Electrical Industries in the Arab World is held biannually under the supervision of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity (AMCE), and is hosted by an Arab country on each occasion. This year the event main theme was “Minimise Energy, Maximise Energy Efficiency”. The conference focused on the many challenges and opportunities for growth in energy management within the Gulf region.
These include best practice solutions to deal with waste & bottlenecks in the energy distribution/usage chain, financial benefits that can be made, identifying areas where new renewable solutions can be implemented and instigating strategies for conservation where required.
