Within the framework of the official launch of SACREEE, a high level delegation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) visited SACREEE at its offices on 22 October 2018. Among the delegation were Mr Philippe Scholtès, Managing Director, Programme Development and Technical Cooperation Division, Mr Khaled El Mekwad, Director of the Regional Office in Pretoria, team members of the South African Clean Tech Innovation Program, the national coordinator of the Bush Value Chain Project in Namibia and the SACREEE team.
It was the aim of the meeting to exchange information on the various ongoing initiatives in the region and to identify possible further project collaborations between UNIDO and SACREEE.
UNIDO is the specialised agency of the United Nations with the mandate to accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID). With financial support from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), UNIDO provides technical assistance to the establishment of SACREEE. Unido also coordinates the Global Network of Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC).
