RCREEE welcomes five interns from the Arab republic of Syria to APSEY round 8

On May 2, RCREEE with the support of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) welcomed five Syrian interns in the 8th round of the Arab Program for Sustainable Energy Youth (APSEY). This comes after RCREEE’s decision to fully dedicate the 8th round to the Arab Republic of Syria.

The OFID support for APSEY started in 2014 and was extended in September of 2016 for interns from Yemen, Sudan, Palestine, Djibouti, Mauritania and Syria.

During their orientation week, the interns met with RCREEE experts and received training sessions on energy management, RE and EE laws, regulations and guidelines. In addition, the interns were introduced RCREEE scope of work, mission and projects.

Throughout their internship, the interns will receive hands-on experience on research and analysis, policy briefs, technical assistance, and other related activities.

In addition, they will work closely with leading technical experts from the region and have access to various technical and administrative workshops and trainings.

Since the launch of APSEY, RCREEE hosted around 43 interns from its 17 member states. The program aims to foster young Arab professional’s knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency topics, and to develop their professional skills of presentation, corporate culture and a professional environment.

About APSEY

The Arab Program for Sustainable Energy Youth™ (APSEY) is a regional sustainable energy internship program which targets young professionals and post graduate students of engineering, economy, and law fields from the Arab region.  The program is held with the support of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

APSEY program aims to foster young Arab professional’s knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency topics, and to develop their professional skills of presentation, corporate culture and a professional environment.
