Amer Barghouth, Private Investments Project Manager at the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) represented the center at the Study Tour of Experts of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers taking place at Praia, Cape Verde on 28 July 2014. The study tour was hosted by the partner organization, ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE).
Mr. Barghouth presented an overview of RCREEE’s experience as one of the leading regional centers for renewable energy and energy efficiency in the world. He also represented RCREEE at the working session on potential South-South activities between the regional centers under the UNIDO Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers. He conveyed RCREEE’s support for the idea of establishing this Network and explored potential areas of cooperation and coordination within this framework.
Mr. Barghouth had the opportunity to have meetings with many technical project managers at ECREEE and identified areas for cooperation including NEEAPs, NREAPs and private investment promotion.
The study tour was jointly organized by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH, and was attended by experts from other regional centers in Africa, Pacific and Caribbean regions.
